Double flops is a very popular and entertaining holdem variation. As the name implies, this card game have two separate boards or community cards which allow the players two chances of forming the best poker hand they can possibly make, one for each set of boards and this is the reason why most of the time the pot is divided to multiple winners.

This card game works just like the typical Texas holdem, each player will be dealt with two pocket cards and blinds will be posted. After the preflop action, however, two sets of flops, turns and rivers will also be dealt. Each player will then make his five card poker hand from their pocket cards and each set of five community cards. The players cannot mix and match the rows.

Double flop holdem players have to declare two hands, one using the top row of community cards and the second row using the same set of pocket cards. It is usually easiest to compare all the hands for one row at a time.

Just like any split pot in Texas holdem game, one should look for hands that will allow him to scoop the entire pot. High suited cards are very playable in this game, but lower suited connectors and medium to small pairs decline considerably in value. You have to remember that since you are working with one deck, of course, cards that appear on one row will not be appearing on the other, or in the hands of your opponents. So it’s up to you how to use this to your advantage.
